Mogadishu (MFASomalia) – On February 04, 2018, HE Amb. Ahmed Issa Awad, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, hailed the friendship and cooperation between the Federal Republic of Somalia and the People’s Republic of China, which is characterized by mutual respect, fruitful effort and commitment to the historical relations between the two peoples.

HE Ahmed Awad discussed with His Excellency Mr. Qin Jian, Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to Somalia, ways to enhance bilateral cooperation between the two countries and issues of mutual interest during the reception held at his office at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the presence of the Interim Permanent Secretary Amb. Ali Mohamed Ali, Director of the Protocol Department, Adv. Hersi Haji Olosow and Director of the Asia Department Mr. Shirwa Abdullahi Ibrahim.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation expressed his appreciation for China’s consistent and supportive stance on the security and stability of Somalia, while stressing Somalia’s pride in the outstanding contributions of Beijing in various fields.

For his part, the Chinese Ambassador to Somalia, Mr. Qin Jian, expressed his thanks and appreciation to the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation for the warm welcome, stressing his country’s keenness to strengthen bilateral relations with Somalia at all levels to support stability and prosperity.
